When you join the Sixth Form at Bolton School, along side your A Level studies, you will take part in the Horizons Programme — a wide range of activities that reach far beyond the curriculum. It is the framework connecting academic study, enrichment, futures preparation and personal development into one coherent Sixth Form experience. The aim is that every student leaves Sixth Form not only with strong results, but with the confidence and experience to thrive beyond school.
Our Curriculum Enrichment Programme (CEP) enables students to explore a range of courses and interests beyond their A Levels, and create a curriculum personalised to them. There are opportunities to students to challenge themselves further by taking additional qualifications including the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and AS courses to deepen their learning and strengthen future applications. Our Sixth Form Entrepreneurship Scheme broadens students' knowledge and experiences, whilst our wealth of leadership, sporting, performing arts, volunteering and outdoor learning opportunities help students to further build their life skills and confidence.
Wellbeing and personal development are paramount as students move through the Sixth Form and prepare for adult life beyond. Our provision and support for Sixth Form students is practical and accessible, helping them to find the balance between academic studies, socialising and the many exciting opportunities available to students here beyond the curriculum.
