Giant Crumpet Insights for Business Studies Boys

Mark Simester, the Marketing Director for Warburtons, came in to the Boys’ Division to talk to a group of twenty-five Year 12 Business Studies pupils about the Giant Crumpet Campaign. This gave the boys a real-life case study to complement their academic syllabus.
Mark began by talking about his career, telling them how he studied Business at University and worked at Nestlé in a variety of marketing roles before assuming his current position at Warburtons in 2012.
He then gave a fantastic overview of the very successful Giant Crumpet campaign. He discussed the initial brainstorming and ideas stage, moving into the product development and decision making behind the necessary plant investment, through the planning and execution of the advertising campaign and launch, to the sales challenges and initial assessments and evaluations. Mark’s talk really enthused the boys and gave them incredibly valuable insights into the business and the recent campaign. It was particularly interesting for them to hear from a business perspective about a campaign they heard about as consumers only a few months ago.
This was followed by a question and answer session, where the pupils asked some astute questions about the details of the recent launch.
Before leaving, Mark kindly left the Sixth Formers with Giant Crumpets to take home, which went down a storm!
