The Russian and German Departments at Bolton School Boys’ Division have each received a prestigious Good Schools' Guide Award for their performance at A Level. The honours were received in the A Level Awards 2012 for the best results achieved by boys at an English School at AS Level.
Richard Catterall, Head of German and Head of Modern Foreign Languages, and Paul Davidson, Head of Russian said: “Obviously we are delighted to receive this award. It recognises the efforts of the boys first and foremost. Not only do many of them opt to continue with learning a foreign language beyond GCSE, they do so with considerable interest, participating in school trips to Germany, Russia, France and Spain. We hear so often in the press about the decline of language learning in the UK, but here in Bolton School Boys’ Division it is a strong and well-supported element of our curriculum.”
The Good Schools' Guide is an independent, unbiased guide to UK state and private schools with informative articles and sensible, practical advice on choosing a school - it is an honour to receive one of their annual awards.
