James Captains England Squad to Victory

Thursday, 07 June 2012

Year 13 student James Roberts captained the England Cerebral Palsy Development Football Squad at the 2012 Cerebral Palsy Home Nations Championships, and led them to Victory!

James' England squad won the tournament, which took place at the Billy Neal Centre of Excellence in Belfast, finishing undefeated against Northern Ireland and Scotland with two convincing victories.

England beat Scotland 3-0 on the first day, and with Northern Ireland also beating Scotland, the final game against the two teams was a battle for top spot. England sealed victory 2 goals to 1, with James, who plays right back, scoring a header in the 16th minute.

James is hoping to be selected for the England Seniors Post Paralympic Team, after which he is aiming for the 2016 Paralympics. James will go to Liverpool University in September to study Medicine.
