Bolton School Sixth Form Boys

KPMG Internships for Bolton School Students

KPMG to launch to Sixth Form students, the chance of a 4 week paid vacation programme at KPMG in Manchester. She gave a co-presentation with Paul Dolyniuk, a Corporate Finance Associate at the firm.

Katie told Sixth Formers about the unique scheme, which sees one girl and one boy undertake meaningful employment with the accounting firm, spending two weeks in its Financial Services Audit team and two weeks in its Corporate Finance team.  Students were asked to apply for the work placement as if they were applying for a full-time position and were told that they will be judged on their application form and a subsequent interview. The two that are chosen will be involved in client work and will be "at the coal-face" undertaking real research.

Katie said: "KPMG is a great place to work. The Manchester office is one of the largest outside London and the students will find themselves part of a vibrant and energetic work environment. The work experience that they will gain will help provide a differentiating factor on their CV and help in their application to university courses and in their future careers."

James Ward, a Year 13 student, reflecting on the month-long internship that he and Jessica Galloway undertook last summer with KPMG, said: "Working in a world-renowned company was a fantastic experience.  The work was meaningful, interesting and paid.  I am going on to university to study Business and German and I know that when I finish, I have some excellent contacts at KPMG."

Katie has been at the big four accounting firm for the past 12 years, after finishing at Bolton School in 1997 and studying at UMIST and for the ACA, which gave her Chartered Accountant status.
