Bolton School Sixth Form Boys

Outstanding A Level Results 2009

Bolton School is celebrating outstanding A Level results.

The Girls' Division set new records in terms of the number of passes at A grade and, overall, students equalled the best performance ever by the School! 62% of entries were graded A and 87% were graded A or B. Students recorded a 100% pass rate, with 96% of all passes graded A, B or C; 20 girls achieved 4 A grades and one girl, Emily Thurston, received 5 A grades - she will read History at Cambridge. Seven other girls will go to Oxford or Cambridge universities.

We are all thrilled in the Girls' Division! They have been a delightful year group, a pleasure to teach, and have given a great deal to the school as well as involving themselves in lots of activities and service outside school. They had a strong sense of loyalty and support for each other, as well as a steadfast group work ethic and this has been rewarded in these excellent results.
Mrs Gill Richards, Headmistress

Once again the Boys' Division has recorded some excellent A Level results, where one third of students received straight A passes and almost half of the passes were A grades. Thirteen boys got 4 A grades and one student, Alexander Quayle, got 5 A grades; he goes on to study Pharmacy at the University of London. This year nine students will take up Oxbridge places and all those with medical offers gained places.

Adam Bradley, who only joined Bolton School for the Sixth Form and has received 4 straight As, said: "It has been a wonderful two years here, I would recommend the School to anyone. I am delighted with my grades." Adam goes onto Bristol to study Law.

It is always very pleasing to see the boys get their A level results and go off to University and to the next stage of their life. Given the pressure on places this year, achieving great results like these becomes even more important. What is special on results day is to see all this academic achievement and to remember what else the boys have done during their time at school in sport, outdoor activities, leadership, drama and growing into self reliant young men.
