Pupils Shine at National Chemistry Olympiad
Tuesday, 19 March 2013
Sixth Form Students at Bolton School have enjoyed an outstanding year at the British Chemistry Olympiad 2013.
Three students, Hannah Cooper, Joseph Ayathamattam and Daniel Hurt, received Gold certificates – awarded to just 7% of the 4574 candidates from all over the UK who entered the competition this year.
Bolton School pupils also picked up three Silver certificates, awarded to 28% of candidates, and two Bronze certificates, awarded to 32% of candidates.
Each year the brightest Sixth Form pupils enter the Chemistry Olympiad - a challenging written test of chemical knowledge. The questions posed often stimulate much debate on, and enthusiasm for, chemistry - raising awareness of what the subject is all about. Tackling the paper also provides a good opportunity to develop some of the skills required for study at university and beyond. Congratulations to all who took part.
