"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

School Helps Barnardo’s Celebrate its 150th Anniversary

Thursday, 12 May 2016

Bolton School Boys’ Division was invited to Buckingham Palace for an afternoon tea party to celebrate 150 years of the Barnardo’s Charity. Mr Caspar Joseph, Head of Sixth Form represented the School at the celebration, which was hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall.  For more than 25 years, the Boys’ Division has raised money for the charity and Sixth Form boys have helped out volunteering in the Chorley, Salford and Wigan branches of Barnardo's.  Over the years the School has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity and is always one of the largest contributors to the Bolton Barnardo’s branch.

Barnardo’s works with more than 240,000 of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers and runs 960 services around the United Kingdom.

Her Majesty the Queen is Patron of the children’s charity and the garden party was an opportunity for Barnardo’s to thank their staff, volunteers and supporters for their hard work and commitment over the last 150 years.

Princess Alexandra and The Duchess of Gloucester were also present at the Garden Party.
