School Tops Local A Level Results League Table
Tuesday, 31 January 2017
Bolton School has placed top of the government’s latest league table of local schools and colleges by A level results. The Girls’ Division leads the table when a school or college is measured by the average point score performance per student and the Boys’ Division is number one in the league when measured by the percentage of students achieving AAB grades or higher in the facilitating subjects. Both measurements are regarded highly by the top universities when admitting students onto degree programmes. The local table can be seen below.
Boys' Division Headmaster Mr Philip Britton said: "A key measure of our success is that boys are able to leave school with a wide range of choices for the future. That very nearly half have the AAB grades, considered to be threshold for being a highly sought after student by selective universities, means the boys are in a position to chose the best future for them."
Headmistress of the Girls' Division, Miss Sue Hincks said: "We are delighted that the girls have done so well in their A Level studies, alongside all of their other activities which develop their soft skills and which are a key part in promoting their confidence and employability."
The statistics from the Department of Education were released at the same time as the GCSE results which ranked the Girls’ Division as fourth best performing independent school in the country by EBacc results. The Boys’ Division did not feature in the GCSE ranking due to it offering IGCSEs in some subjects.
