Four Year 12 boys made the journey to the University of Central Lancashire to take part in the Society of Biology Sixth Form Schools Quiz. This is an annual event that allows the best biology students in the North West to use their knowledge of biology and their practical and reasoning skills to compete against one another.
The quiz involved ten questions based around a broad range of biological topics. This year, the topics included endocrine physiology, cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology, plant biology, mollusc identification and behaviour, fossil identification, titration experiments, microscope drawing and famous biologists.
The competition was tough, but the Boys' Division team performed brilliantly and came away a creditable 6th out of eighteen competitors.
They finished slightly ahead of the Girls’ Division, who were awarded 10th place.
