Clive Drinkwater, Director for UK Trade and Investment in the North West and a keynote speaker on a range of business issues, will visit Bolton School Boys’ Division and address Year 13 students on Monday 13 January at 2.30pm. Mrs Edge, Head of Business Studies in the Boys’ Division, invited him in after reading “From Beijing to Bolton”, an article he wrote for The Times newspaper. Mr Drinkwater will talk about a range of issues, including how companies need to look beyond the EU to maximise profits in new and growing markets. He will draw on his own considerable experience in international trade in the private sector, where he has sold to over 90 countries worldwide.
Mr Drinkwater is on the board of several North West universities but this is the first time he has addressed A level students. Looking forward to the event, he said:
“I am passionate about getting more businesses to export and am fortunate to have had a fantastically enjoyable career in international business. Now I want to encourage more young people to choose this rewarding career path. There could be plenty of future entrepreneurs in our schools, and I hope that by reaching out to students to highlight the benefits of a career in international trade we can help to secure the future prosperity of the North West by mentoring our future business leaders. I am very much looking forward to my first school visit and to meeting the Year 13 students.”
