Bolton School Sixth Form Boys

Students Celebrate Oxbridge Offers

Sixth Form students from Bolton School Girls’ Division and Boys’ Division have been celebrating after receiving offers to study at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Six girls and five boys have been made offers to study at the country’s top two universities from this Autumn.

Adam Woolley, who is Captain of the Boys’ Division, has been offered a place to study Classics at Downing College, Cambridge. He commented: “The School has been the main feed of information throughout the application and interview process. In helping us prepare, the different subject departments of each applicant have answered any queries and the School has always been at hand if we needed any extra advice.”

Hannah Cooper, who has been offered a much coveted place at Pembroke College, Cambridge to study Veterinary Medicine, said: “I can’t wait to get started on my course, to join my college and to meet up with other students. I will miss my family and friends but I will get to see more of my older brother who is currently in his second year at Cambridge.”

Looking forward to his time at university, Adam added: “It will be great to meet more people who are interested in my subject, Classics. The thing I am least looking forward to is the budgeting that I will have to do – and I believe Cambridge is even colder than here!”

Headmistress of the Girls’ Division, Sue Hincks, said: “Once again, we are delighted that so many of our talented and able students have been accepted onto such competitive courses at both Oxford and Cambridge. The boys and girls have worked extremely hard with the staff and independently to prepare themselves for interview and the different Colleges have described themselves as impressed with all that the pupils have achieved. We wish them and all our students every success as they study for their final exams.”

Besides Hannah Cooper, five other girls were made offers: Elizabeth Alderson to study History at Lincoln College Oxford; Georgia Thurston to study English Literature at Queens’ College, Cambridge; Isabella Sabini to study French and Spanish at Trinity Hall, Cambridge; Olivia Hadjinicolaou to study Geography at Keble College, Oxford; and Olivia Hosker to study Law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.

From the Boys’ Division, these boys, as well as Adam, received offers: Dean Khan to study Earth Science at Exeter College, Oxford; Peter Swift to study Classics at Balliol College, Oxford; Daniel Hurt to study Medicine at Clare College, Cambridge; and Siddarth Umapathy to study Medicine at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
