"The best thing I can say of the school was that it worked. It embedded in me habits of reading and thinking as well as an enduring curiosity about just about everything."

Doughnut Sales Raise Funds for Penny Appeal

  • Penny Appeal

Sixth Form pupils Hanna Jiva and Aaisha Patel have raised £261.40 for the charity Penny Appeal. They raised the money by selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the Family Fireworks night organised by the Parents’ Association, and in the Riley Centre the following Monday.

The girls chose to donate the funds to Penny Appeal’s Refugee Emergency project, which supports refugees arriving in Europe to help them to build a brighter future. They invited Penny Appeal fundraiser Khalil Benkhalil to School to collect a cheque on behalf of the charity.

Hanna was inspired to raise funds for Penny Appeal as she has been a volunteer with the local branch of the charity for about a year, helping to organise events and charity fundraisers in the local area.
