Bolton School Girls are Halle Orchestra Stars

Thursday, 19 September 2013

Three Bolton School Girls’ Division pupils have been selected for the Halle Youth Orchestra.

Following successful auditions, the girls have been awarded full membership for the 2013-2014 season. Year 12 pupil Katie Hurt will play the cello, Year 13 pupil Holly Holt will play the flute and fellow Year 13 pupil Natasha Lomas will play the clarinet.

Katie and Holly have been part of the Halle Youth Orchestra in previous years. The trio will attend weekly rehearsals with the orchestra and perform in their concerts throughout the year.

As well as their music talents, all three girls manage to achieve consistently high academic results. Katie achieved outstanding GCSE results in the Summer with 11 A*s and Holly and Natasha were both awarded full marks for their AS music recitals.

The Girls’ Division houses a multitude of musical talent. Three girls, Hermione Britten, Seren Davies and Rachel Care, sing in the Halle Choir, while Vashuda Marthi was accepted as a member of the National Children's Orchestra last year. Jessica Ryan participated in the National Youth Musical Theatre programme over the summer, and Sally Cowling and Fay Wan both attend the Junior RNCM.
