Bolton School Sixth Form Girls

Girls’ Art Exhibited at the University of Bolton

GCSE and A Level Art students from Bolton School Girls' Division have been showcasing their art at the Best of Bolton Schools’ Art and Design Exhibition, now in its seventh year and hosted by the University of Bolton.

The event, which is held in the Innovation Factory of the School of Arts, Media and Education at the University, is a collaboration between schools in Bolton and the University. The exhibition features the best work from pupils from secondary schools across the borough.

The Mayor of Bolton opened the event and Professor Robert Campbell, the Pro Vice Chancellor at the university, welcomed teachers, pupils and guests on the opening night.  Professor Campbell commended the entrants on the high quality of their work, which, he felt gets better each year.

The exhibition is sponsored by The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) who provided sponsorship for prizes which were presented at the private view evening. Bolton School Year 13 pupil Jessica Broome won the Best Fine Art prize, which means the School has picked up prizes in each of the last three years; she was presented with some art materials.

Head of Art in the Girls' Division, Miss Fazackerly, is one of the main organisers along with the Fine Art department at Bolton University. She said: "This event gets bigger and better every year and I must commend the students on their outstanding work. I also would like to offer congratulations and thanks to all the members of staff that have helped with this exhibition at what is a very busy time of year.”

The Bolton School's Art and Design Showcase is open to the public from 10am to 4pm until Friday 27 June, at the Innovation Factory Fine Art Studio on the University Campus.
