Congratulations to Jessica Buckthorpe, Sarah Walker and Lily Rimmer, in Year 12, for getting through to the next round of the English Speaking Union’s Schools’ Mace debating competition. The qualifying round was held at Bedford High School where the girls debated the motion 'This house regrets the commercialisation of Pride' and argued for the Opposition. Teacher Mrs Thornborough said: "They were extremely well prepared and gave an excellent account of themselves, putting forward some well-constructed arguments and responding confidently to the Proposition’s arguments. They move on to compete in the Regional Final with the date yet to be confirmed. We wish them the very best of luck!"
