Katie Nightingale and Sarah Richards are two Year 12 girls with dreams of becoming doctors – and an exciting plan for making it happen. The two girls are currently fundraising to enable them both to travel to Thailand to get hands-on medical experience.
In August this year, they are due to travel to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand for two weeks. There, they will have the opportunity to work in the various different departments of a hospital, not only observing medical procedures but also taking part – under strict supervision from the qualified staff, of course! The practical work experience is a wonderful opportunity for both girls, as it will really make their CVs stand apart from the rest when applying for medical courses.
Katie said, “We are both aspiring doctors who have done over 200 hours of voluntary work combined. Searching for a new challenge and medical experience, we hope Thailand will teach us both a lot about the world of medicine.”
The girls have arranged a Fundraising Party at the Holiday Inn Bolton this Saturday, the 1st of March. Tickets are £8, and a raffle will be held over the course of the evening. The girls have a great line-up of prizes on offer:
- Signed Wayne Rooney shirt
- Overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel and Holiday Inn
- 4 VIP tickets to the Holiday Inn Christmas Party
- £25 voucher for The Retreat
- 3 day passes for Total Fitness gym
