"Recently I won the Mensa Child Genius Competition and I believe that it was possible because of the academic skills and the skills to perform in front of an audience and to keep calm under pressure that I acquired at Hesketh House."

Jessica Shortlisted for London Exhibition

Tuesday, 09 December 2014

Jessica Broome in Year 13 recently submitted a piece of her artwork to be considered for inclusion at the Royal Society of British Artists Exhibition 2015 in the Mall Galleries, London. Her piece was selected by the Bolton branch of The National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) to go forward to the national selection.

Wendy Jones and Michael Hope from NADFAS came along to the Girls’ Division A-Level Art Studio to surprise Jessica in her Art lesson and present a certificate to celebrate that she is a ‘Society Selected Artist’.

Unfortunately, Jessica’s work was not selected by the national committee, but the certificate from NADFAS and the Royal Society of British Artists recognises the high standard of her entry and the prestige of being selected for consideration.

A total of 370 artworks from eighty-nine schools were shortlisted and submitted for consideration. James Horton, President of the Royal Society of British Artists, and the RBA Council made the final selection of just twenty-three pieces.  These will be exhibited alongside professional artists’ work at the annual Royal Society of British Artists’ exhibition next year, from the 11th to the 21st of March 2015.
