Students Celebrate Oxbridge Offers
Thursday, 01 January 2009
Seventeen students from Bolton School's Sixth Form have been celebrating, having received offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities from Autumn 2009. Nine students from the Boys' Division and eight students from the Girls' Division have been offered places at the prestigious universities.
Mr Philip Britton, Headmaster of the Boys' Division, said: "I am delighted for these students, the offers are a recognition of the hard work undertaken by both them and their teachers. I am equally pleased for the many other boys who have received top class offers from the UK's leading universities. Entry to the very best universities is no longer just about being able to show academic potential, applicants must also be strong characters with skills and interests outside the classroom. Having been at the School for six months now, I am convinced that Bolton School is second to none in offering a vast range of opportunities and activities to help build characters and CVs."
Headmistress of the Girls' Division, Mrs Gill Richards, said: "As is commensurate with past years, nearly all girls have been made offers from their chosen universities and onto their desired course. Such offers are a strong endorsement of the education that is on offer at Bolton School. I am very pleased for the girls and their teachers."
