Bolton School Sixth Form Girls

Tea at the Riley

Sixth Form students at Bolton School Girls’ Division are putting together plans for ‘Tea at the Riley’ – a series of tea parties held in the School’s new Sixth Form Centre which are completely free of charge to all guests.

Bolton’s older generation are warmly invited to join a group of fifteen pupils for tea, sweet treats, and lots of fun! There will be selection of home-made scones and cakes, all produced by the girls running the project, as well as the choice of tea, coffee and juice. Entertainment will also be provided, with the potential for live musical performances from some of the School’s pupils, bingo and other games, and lots of buzzing conversation with the Sixth Formers.

The girls are really looking forward to meeting some of the older people in the local community. Ananya Baksi is particularly enthusiastic about the project, and even went the extra mile to apply for additional funding. She said, “We’ve applied for funding from vInspired’s Cashpoint, which offers a grant to young people who want to set up and run their own community project. We’ve submitted an application which is really like a business plan, showing the budgeting for all of the tea parties we want to run and how many young people will be involved. We wanted to run this project to reach out to the older generation within the local community and hopefully give them a fun afternoon!”

vInspired is the UK’s leading youth volunteering charity, helping to provide young people with opportunities to make a difference through voluntary work and community action projects. The Cashpoint grant will hopefully allow the girls to create something extra-special for their tea party guests in the months to come.

The tea party will take place in the Riley Centre’s Leverhulme Suite, which has full disabled access. To reserve your place, please contact the Bolton School reception on 01204 840201.
