Victoria Becomes Bolton Deputy Youth MP
Monday, 30 November 2020
Following local Youth MP elections and the recent departure of one of Bolton’s Youth MPs, Victoria Wong, a Y12 student at Bolton School Girls’ Division, has become a Deputy Youth MP (DYMP) for the town.
Reflecting on her appointment, Victoria said: ‘It certainly came as a surprise to me when I learnt I would become a DYMP. Despite that, I feel very proud to have this role in representing my community, especially at a time when we need to support each other most.’
Victoria will have the opportunity to represent Bolton and work with many influential people. One of her first projects is a ‘self love’ campaign: ‘Taking care of our mental health now is more important than ever. The self-love campaign I, alongside the other DYMP’s, am working on, will aim to promote positive self-esteem in young people. We are still in the early stages of planning but we already have lots of exciting ideas coming to fruition shortly!’
Victoria has also been elected to become a Youth Board Member of the BiteBack2030 movement co-founded by Jamie Oliver and is actively working to improve food standards in the UK. She is also signed up as a volunteer who will help to shortly deliver the new Covid vaccine as part of St John Ambulance, who have been asked to support the NHS.
