Old Girls' are invited to join us for the Armistice Assembly in the Great Hall followed by an Old Girls' Lunch in the Leverhulme suite.
Old Girls’ Lunch and Armistice Service – Monday 11th November 2024
Old Girls are invited to the next OGA School Lunch and Armistice Service. The Service will be held in the Girls’ Division Great Hall and Old Girls are asked to register in the Riley Main Reception at 10.15am. The Service will begin at 10.45am, and Old Girls will process into the Hall with the Prefects. Should you wish to attend the lunch only, please arrive at 11.45am.
Following the Armistice Service, tea and coffee will be served in the Leverhulme Suite, and the Old Girls’ Lunch will start at 12 noon. There may be some of you who have not come along to an Old Girls’ Lunch before, so please know that they are always especially enjoyable and happy gatherings, and a wonderful way to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. It is also a good opportunity to catch up with news of the School from the Head of Girls' Division, Lynne Kyle.
The price of the lunch is £10 per person. This price includes a two-course lunch followed by tea and coffee: I am sure you will agree that it remains excellent value for money.
Catering arrangements will need to be made by Friday 1st November and so we would really appreciate it if you could inform us of your wish to attend by that date. To confirm attendance, please either contact the Development Office to pay over the telephone, or complete the booking form using our online booking system.
Pedestrian access to the School is through the Main Arch, into the Riley Quad and then in to the Main Reception area in the Riley Centre. Parking on site is limited, and therefore we advise Old Girls, if possible, to park off site. If you have a disability or difficulty walking, please contact the Development Office prior to the lunch, and they will be able to give you further assistance and advice regarding access.
The Old Girls’ Association has a long tradition of supporting charitable works and good causes within the Bolton community and beyond, stretching back to the Association’s very beginnings over a century ago. In continuation of this tradition, and to support the Girls’ Division’s annual support for the Urban Outreach Christmas Hamper Appeal and the Bolton Lions’ Annual Christmas Toy Appeal, we are inviting all Old Girls who attend the Lunch to bring with them a donation in support of either charity. Further details and ideas can be found below. These donations will be added to the Girls’ Division’s donation to both appeals, which each year provides hampers of Christmas food and presents for hundreds of children and households in crisis across Bolton.
If you wish to support the Urban Outreach Christmas Hamper Appeal then a list of suggested items will be shared before the lunch. The hampers are delivered to households across the Bolton area.
If you wish to support the Bolton Lions’ Annual Christmas Toy Appeal then please bring a new book or toy for a child aged 0 – 11years. Suggestions for suitable items are listed below. Donations are given to children who otherwise would receive few or no gifts at Christmas due to homelessness, financial poverty or health reasons.
- Toy fire engines, doll set, large car sets, Barbie or similar
- Smaller toys such as building blocks, Lego, cars and trucks, small dolls, craft sets. Dinosaurs and unicorns are very popular!
