I am delighted to welcome you to Bolton School’s Pre-School Class. My name is Mrs Browning and I am the qualified teacher in charge of the class.
Established 10 years ago, our Pre-School Class provides an outstanding, nurturing and stimulating environment, where our children grow and thrive in every aspect of development, ensuring they are ‘school-ready’.
We are a term-time only class and children can start with us in the school year that they turn four years of age: 1 September – 31 August. The children spend a full academic year with us before attending Reception, the days mirroring a typical school day.
Although not guaranteed, many of our children do transition to our Infant School, Beech House, with which we maintain regular and close links. The Pre-School Class offers the perfect choice for families who want to join the Bolton School family at this earlier phase with the intention of their children remaining at the School until they leave our Sixth Form.
The Class prepares the children for school life and routines, ensuring the children are ‘school-ready’ in every way. We achieve this through a combination of formal and informal learning opportunities. The children follow a play-based curriculum and are provided with a mixture of independent, child-initiated activities and structured, teacher led activities; examples include daily phonics sessions, daily Maths Mastery practical lessons, weekly Cookery School and themed units of work. Whilst there is lots of fun and play, we also provide a broad range of extra-curricular activities, including Spanish, Music and Forest Schools. Strong emphasis is placed upon developing politeness, good manners and good listening skills. Children here are happy and confident in their environment and quickly become independent learners.
We would be thrilled to welcome you into our Bolton School family and hope to see you soon.
Mrs Louise Browning
Pre-School Class Teacher
Separate from the independent school’s Nursery, this teacher-led class runs from 8.00am-3.15pm each day during term-time. Wrap-around care, before and after the class, is also available at the School’s Kidzone facility from 7.30am-6.00pm and during holiday periods for the three and four years olds. Parents can therefore opt for either full-time, 51 weeks of the year care or a school term time pre-school education.
