Ruby Spencer, a Year 6 pupil at Bolton School Junior Girls’ School, has been selected by the Head Coach to represent City of Preston Gymnastics at the Malta GymStars International Competition.

The event attracts gymnasts from around Europe, including Malta, Italy, UK and Germany as well as from South Africa. It provides an amazing opportunity for competitors to meet gymnasts from many countries and participate in an international event.

The COPGC team travel out on Wednesday 6 July for a week and Ruby will be competing in the Set E Age 10 category.

Ruby’s mum, Sonya Spencer, said: ‘Ruby started gymnastics at the age of 3, initially to inspire listening, trying new challenges, hard work and fun in the lead up to starting school. Coupled with the fact that she was always upside down it seemed the ideal choice of sport. She has remained committed to training hard even during lockdowns With her current coach Jamie, she enjoys the fabulous friendships gymnastics brings, and perfecting her skills for competitions. Bolton School is always very keen to support and celebrate her achievements. Good Luck Ruby, we are very proud of you!’
