Girls' Division Event

Year 7 and Year 8 girls at Bolton School, along with their teachers, enjoyed a celebratory end of academic year in the Girls’ Division.

The evening opened with the Intermediate Concert Band playing ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ from Mary Poppins and music from Beauty and the Beast.

Head of the Girls’ Division Mrs Kyle congratulated Year 7 on how well they had settled in, made friends and embraced curricular- and extra-curricular opportunities. She told how the girls had made a big impression on the rest of the School and how reading their reports had been a great delight. She told how they had eagerly embraced a range of enrichment activities and they had visited the School’s outdoor adventure learning centre, Patterdale in their first Term. She recalled too their recent trips to Formby and to watch a pantomime and told how they were looking forward to visiting Chester Zoo later that week. Mrs Kyle said they had blossomed as a year group and that their teachers had told her how engaged they are in lessons, despite having spent time away from the classrooms during the Covid pandemic. She also said that they had been excited to recently invite their old teachers into school for lunch and a tour of the campus.

Mrs Kyle also addressed the Year 8 girls, saying how they were delighted to no longer be the youngest cohort in the school. She said they were now well versed in the ways of Bolton School and that they too had contributed immeasurably both inside and outside the classroom and that their end of year reports are testimony to how well you have done. Like Year 7, the Year 8 girls had thrown themselves into academic and extra-curricular activities with many taking up roles in the productions of Matilda or The Little Princess. As a year group, they too had been to Patterdale and more recently to Ambleside and Hoghton Tower.

The focus then turned to the presentations and awards, which went to the girls and flowers were presented to the Heads of Year and Head of Lower School who shared the stage with Mrs Kyle.

The evening concluded with further musical items – the whole of Year 8 singing with gusto an offering from Disney’s animated film Encanto and there were pieces by the Middle School Choir, the Percussion Ensemble and the whole of Year 7.
