The Bolton School Girls’ Division PE department was thrilled to host the very first Girls Cricket Festival on Tuesday 11th June, marking a milestone for girls' sport in the area.
Five local secondary schools joined in a spirited tournament designed to provide young players with the opportunity to experience competitive cricket in a welcoming and supportive environment. Throughout the day, under 13 and under 15 teams showcased their emerging talents in a lively round-robin format, learning the value of teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.
Ms Farrimond-Goff, PE teacher and event organiser, shared her excitement: “It’s fantastic to have so many girls playing cricket. For many, this was their first experience of competitive play, and it was great to see how much they seemed to enjoy it. We hope this becomes an annual event and that girls’ cricket continues to grow both at Bolton School and across the local community.”
The results reflected the strong spirit and determination of all teams:
