Boys' Division Event

On Tuesday 4 June, Bolton School proudly hosted its first ever MACFEST Day — a celebration of Muslim arts and culture that brought vibrant creativity and cross-cultural understanding to the forefront of the school day.

Boys' Division pupils in Years 8 and 9 immersed themselves in the rich artistic traditions of the Islamic world through hands-on calligraphy and silk painting workshops. Guided by expert artists, students explored the spiritual and cultural significance of these traditional art forms, before producing their own striking ‘Bismillah’ rose designs and colourful silk pieces.

Later in the day, Year 7 pupils had the exciting opportunity to meet award-winning author Manjeet Mann. Known for her powerful novels in verse, Manjeet delivered an inspiring talk that explored her writing journey and the themes that influence her work. Students then took part in dynamic creative writing workshops, where they were encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and use their imagination to craft original pieces of writing.

The day proved to be a huge success, offering students the chance to discover and appreciate the beauty and depth of Islamic art and culture in an engaging and meaningful way.
