Boys' Division Science

Bolton School Boys’ Division is proud to have been awarded Isaac Science Embedded School status at Gold Level for the 2025-26 academic year.

Isaac Science is a project funded by the University of Cambridge and supported by the Ogden Trust, which aims to empower all students through free access to high-quality science learning resources. It is highly respected by schools and universities. Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are made to schools where teachers have used Isaac Science resources regularly during the previous academic year: for the Gold level, a minimum of 75 Isaac Science assignments must be set in the course of a year.

The Boys’ Division uses Isaac Science widely to set assignments for classes, homework and revision exercises. The Isaac Science resources help students to develop fluency and ability in scientific and mathematical analysis, which both helps to raise their grades and prepares them for university study.

Isaac Science Embedded Schools are encouraged to use Isaac Science in the scheme of work, engage with Isaac Science Teacher CPD and events for students and teachers, and support other schools through events and training.

Towards the beginning of the academic year, Bolton School hosted the first ever Isaac Physics Northern Teacher Symposium: a free event for Key Stage 4 and 5 science teachers, including trainees, with a focus on supporting physics problem-solving skills at GCSE and A Level. Local teachers also brought their Year 12 students for a free Mechanics Masterclass with the Isaac Physics team.
