Boys' Division Sport

Since returning from the October half term break, the Boys’ Division has been celebrating a number of impressive sporting achievements.

Year 7 pupil Easa has been named European No-Gi IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) champion for his age. Due to lack of opponents in the same division, he had to go up a weight class and therefore weighed in 3kg lighter than the others in his category. He won all of his fights by submission.

From this competition in Ireland, he went on to compete in the AJP Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi just a few days later. There, he was pleased to hold on to his title of World Champion and won all four of his fights.

Year 12 student Matthew has recently won Junior Gold medals in both the 200M and 100M Breaststroke events at the regional North West Winter Championship 2025. This success means that he has qualified for the Winter National Championships, which take place in December.

Matthew started focussing on swimming at the age of 14, ramping up his training from twice a week to 7 times a week. Twelve months later, in 2024, he qualified for his first County and Regional competitions and won a bronze and silver in both of competitions. As he achieved a place in the top 25 in his age group in Britain, he also qualified for British Nationals that year.

In 2025, Matthew earned bronze and silver again at the County competition, followed by two silvers at Regionals. He qualified for the national finals in August and finished in fifth place.

Harry in Year 10 has officially signed with Oldham Athletic AFC Academy, where he has been playing since the summer. Earlier this year, he was invited to play for ISFA against Wales.

Jasper in Year 7 is an elite skier who competes internationally. Over the summer, he competed in thirteen indoor races: eleven slalom, one banked slalom and one freestyle. He was pleased to secure podiums in all competitions, earning eleven gold medals and two silvers. His proudest achievement was winning the overall Copper Horse GBR Series, as well as taking the English Indoor Champion and British Indoor Champion titles. He will train for Team GB for two weeks over Christmas in Austria.
