As part of Bolton School’s World Book Day celebrations, the school was delighted to host part of the Little People, Big Dreams Nationwide Tour!
Little People, Big Dreams is a series of children's books by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara. The series introduces young readers to inspiring people in history, politics, music, arts, design, science, and sports.
Year 2 children from Beech House were joined by over 50 children from Devonshire Road, Beaumont Primary School, Gaskell Primary School and Pikes Lane Primary School to meet Francis Martin, the illustrator for the Roald Dahl book in the series.
Francis shared the story of Roald Dahl’s life and talked with the children about what it is like to be an illustrator. He then led an interactive activity where the children drew along with him to produce their own drawing of Roald Dahl to match the book’s front cover illustration. The children were delighted to create their very own Roald Dahl drawing and had fun shouting out what parts of the body and face should be drawn next!
The nationwide tour was held in honour of World Book Day week, and pupils were invited to come along dressed as their favourite Little People, Big Dreams characters to help the organisers reach a record-breaking target of 10,000 children dressed as Little People, Big Dreamers and break a costume party world record.
