The Sprinkle of Kindness campaign was launched by Infant School teacher and Old Girl Miss Niaz nine years ago. This December, for the eighth year at Bolton School, she has once again helped to bring some festive cheer to children and families in Bolton. 2025 will see the campaign help more than 100 families at Christmastime.
Speaking about the campaign, Miss Niaz said:
"This is the ninth year of my Sprinkle of Kindness appeal. I launched it when I worked over at a school in Groton, Manchester. My family and I would donate food, clothes and toys to the families. Since I have worked at Bolton School, for the past 8 years, I felt it was important to teach our children that all families are different and there are lots of families who struggle.
"Over the years my appeal has grown through donations from myself, my family and friends and through the generosity of our parents here at Bolton School. The schools across Bolton and Manchester contact me and provide a list of families who need support. I then go shopping and buy the relevant clothes, toys, books and so on to make a package up for every child. We also buy for their siblings who may not attend the schools, so every family member has something to open at Christmas. We provide for adults in the families, too, and make up food parcels.
"I then go and deliver to the schools in Bolton and Manchester. I took our Year 1 School Council representatives this year to deliver to a school in Bolton. It is a great feeling knowing we have helped over 100 families this year. Thank you everyone for your continued support!"
