Senior Girls Awards

A very busy Great Hall of parents, friends and teachers at Bolton School Girls’ Division witnessed an evening of celebration and music for and by Year 7 and Year 8 pupils.

Head of School, Mrs Kyle, praised both year groups for working hard to achieve academic success while taking part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including performing in Beauty and the Beast and at a spectacular concert at The Bridgewater Hall.

Addressing the Year 7 girls, the Head congratulated the cohort on settling so quickly, on making friends and impressing their teachers and she told them how reading their reports had been a real delight. She also revealed how the girls were currently excited to be greeting their former teachers for lunchtime receptions and tours of the campus. Mrs Kyle then explained how Year 8 were now well versed in the ways of the School and that they too had enjoyed a very successful year, evidenced by their glowing reports. She recalled some of the trips and visits that the year groups had enjoyed, including with the RS department, to the theatre, the seaside and to outdoor adventure learning centres. Over the academic year, Mrs Kyle said, both year groups had undertaken lots of fundraising events - a particular favourite among staff being the sponsored silence! There was now much anticipation for a new event to be held later in the week, the Summer Fayre, which would raise money for Anastasia Days, a charity close to the school’s heart.

Before the presentation of certificates, the audience was treated to the Intermediate Concert Band playing Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling, the entirety of Year 8 singing Walking on Sunshine, Year 7 singing ABBA’s Dancing Queen and a tuned percussion ensemble playing Soul Bossa Nova.

After the awards were made by Mrs Kyle and Form teachers, and flowers had been presented to Heads of Year and the Head of Lower School, Year 8 sang George Harrison’s Here Comes the Sun, the Lower School Choir sang ABBA’s Thank You for the Music and Year 7 closed the celebratory evening with We’re All in This Together from High School Musical.
