The Under 15 Girls’ water polo team enjoyed an outstanding campaign this year and were ultimately crowned ESSA National Champions in March. The team produced a series of dominant performances throughout the competition, progressing confidently through the preliminary rounds and knockout stages to reach the National Finals. They consistently demonstrated control, organisation and a high level of technical execution throughout.

At the National Finals, the girls faced strong opposition in the group stages and semi-final but delivered composed and effective performances to reach the Final against Alleyn’s School. This proved to be a physical and demanding contest, but the team maintained control throughout, showing excellent discipline in defence and efficiency in attack to secure a deserved victory.

Mr Teasdale, the Head of Foundation Water Polo, said: “What makes this achievement particularly impressive is the age profile of the squad, with a significant number of players from Years 8 and 9 contributing alongside a small group of Year 10s. The team combined strong individual ability with a clear tactical understanding and a willingness to compete, which was evident across all matches.

“The performances across the competition were among the strongest produced by an Under 15 team in recent years and reflect the players’ commitment, attitude and consistency throughout the season.”

This is only the third time that Bolton School has achieved the Girls’ Under 15 ESSA National title, making it a significant milestone for the water polo programme.

The Under 18 Girls also an excellent campaign this year and became National runners up after their Final, while the Under 15 Boys’ team finished third in the country. The Under 18 Boys placed fourth in the National Plate competition.

The Under 13 Boys’ and Girls’ teams have progressed strongly in their tournament, both qualifying for the semi-final stages of their competitions, which will take place in May.

There have also been some excellent individual successes recently for Bolton School’s current and former water polo players. Year __ pupil Zara attended a Great Britain Under 18 training camp held in Greece. Alumni have also been competing on the international stage: James Blenkinship (Class of 2022) is currently representing Great Britain at the World Cup in Malta, while Harriet Dickens and Lucy Blenkinship (both Class of 2024) played key roles for Great Britain at the European Championships in January.
