In celebration of the Independent Schools Council (ISC)’s Partnerships Week, which starts today, Bolton School is proud to launch its new Partnerships page.
The page brings together information about the huge range of dedicated work Bolton School undertakes to enrich educational opportunities for young people in Bolton and the surrounding area. This programme of partnership work is built on collaborative relationships with state primary and secondary schools, higher education providers, youth projects and charities; and benefits hundreds of children annually across the region.
Philip Britton, Bolton School’s Head of Foundation, said:
“Partnerships are a vitally important part of what we do here at Bolton School, and more broadly across the independent education sector. We are able to offer our support and expertise to enrich educational opportunities for young people across our local area, creating mutually-beneficial connections, breaking down barriers and raising aspirations. That work is central here at Bolton School, and we are proud to have a dedicated partnership team working to strengthen and expand those relationships for the good of all young people in the community.”
Jon Hitchin, Foundation Director of Partnerships, added:
“The Partnerships programme here at Bolton School is really exciting and we are proud to have developed such a wide variety of different partnerships. We partner with state schools to share our facilities and expertise, allowing children to access outdoor learning, sport, music and the sciences; and we organise and host a variety of big events throughout the year, from Primary Football Festivals to the Year 9 Physics Olympics and the Bolton Children’s Fiction Award. We are able to offer CPD and in-school workshops to primary school teachers. delivered by subject experts in several curriculum areas, including maths, Classics and modern foreign languages.
“This year, we have also expanded our provision of large-scale events for secondary school pupils, alongside hosting pupils from two schools who regularly attend A Level taster lessons in our partnership classrooms.
“In addition, our links with the University of Greater Manchester have grown in the areas of sports science, medicine and health, graphics and engineering. This year we held a huge healthcare careers event for the university, showcasing their different courses to secondary school pupils. Our projects with higher education providers like the University of Greater Manchester give young people in our community information and guidance for their future careers pathways.”
The ISC’s Partnerships Week runs from 10-14 November 2025 and celebrates the incredible range of partnerships and collaborative activities taking place throughout the UK independent schools’ sector.
