Bolton School Literacy

Author Matt Dickinson visited Bolton School to share his exciting stories from some of the world’s most challenging environments, including Everest, K2, Antarctica and the Amazon rainforest.

Across two sessions, he spoke to Year 10 pupils from the Girls’ and Boys’ Divisions about his expeditions around the world, as well as his work as both an author and filmmaker. He shared the real-life experiences on Mount Everest that shaped his thriller The Everest Files and spoke about the environmental challenges the Earth and humanity are facing in the future. His talk was also filled with useful life advice on resilience, keeping going in adversity and the importance of planning.

Over lunchtime, Matt also met with Book Club members from Years 7 and 8, inspiring them with more tales of his adventures around the world while also answering questions about working in the media and being an author of fiction and non-fiction.
