Sixth Form students took part in the annual North Schools’ Modern Foreign Languages Debating Competition at Cheadle Hulme School. They debated the motions “Don’t give your child a smart phone until they’re 16”, “Creativity is more important than knowledge”, “There is no point in going to University nowadays” and “You should be able to vote at 16”. Boys’ and Girls’ teams entered in French, German and Spanish. The Girls’ French team of Year 13 pupils Madeleine and Umme-Hani  finished third out of 16 schools narrowly missing the final by half a point. The Boys’ German team of Year 12 pupils Nathaniel and Thomas made it to the final, narrowly losing on the unseen motion of “Should you read the book or watch the film.”

Mr Robson Boys' Division Head of Modern Foreign Languages said : "We are very proud of the achievements of our pupils who represented the school against the best schools across the North of England."
