Bolton School

Last week, Bolton School was  proud to have been shortlisted as Independent School of the Year for Contribution to Social Mobility, in Independent School Parent magazine’s Independent Schools of the Year (ISOTY) Awards 2025.

Now in its eighth year, the ISOTY Awards recognise stories of success in the independent education sector.

We are delighted that the ISOTY Awards have acknowledged Bolton School’s longstanding dedication to social mobility, which has been part of the School’s ethos since its re-Foundation 110 years ago. Our inclusion in the shortlist recognises the value of our generous bursary scheme — currently supporting 1 in 5 students but with aspirations to grow to support 1 in 3 through the launch of the Open Futures Bursary Campaign — and the importance of our extensive and wide-reaching partnership work, which serves both to encourage and support potential bursary candidates, and to raise aspirations in young people in schools across the region.

Our  socially diverse school community, made up of fee payers and funded pupils, is part of what makes Bolton School such a special place to learn. We are pleased to see that our commitment to ensuring that the School remains accessible to every child of ability, regardless of their family’s circumstances, has been commended through our inclusion in this shortlist.

A list of ISOTY 2025 Finalists will be published in early September, chosen by the 2025 judging panel of sector leaders, with winners announced at the awards ceremony in October.
