Young Coronation Street actress Charleigh Adams has bagged herself 11 top GCSEs in today’s exam results.

Charleigh attends Bolton School Girls’ Division and plays one of Amy Barlow’s friends, Jessica Bedford, in Corrie. She is celebrating six grade 9s and 5 grade 8s in this year’s GCSEs.

Charleigh has also appeared in Peter Kay’s Car Share series, where she played the niece of Sian Gibson’s character, and was one of the main characters, Emily, in CBBC’s Class Dismissed, which won the Children’s BAFTA for Comedy in 2017.

In future, Charleigh hopes to make acting her career and would like to try different, more serious roles but first she aims to study languages at university. It’s clear from her excellent exam results that she certainly hasn’t let her acting aspirations interfere with her school work. She now plans to study French, Spanish, English literature and religious studies at A level.

She says:

I did a lot better than I expected. It means I’m able to do what I want at A level and I’m also now not as scared as I was about whether I’ll get into university. I want to study languages at uni as well as continuing to act. I love travelling and learning about different cultures and really like foreign film and television too.

Bolton School Girls’ Division headmistress Sue Hincks says: “This year’s GCSE results are among the best Bolton Girls has ever had.” The school has a 48.2% pass rate at grades 9-8, 23.1% at the very top grade 9, and 69% at grades 9-7. In the new grading system, grades 9 to 7 are broadly equivalent to the old A* to A grades.
