Girls' Division Charity

Year 10 pupils in the Girls’ Division of Bolton School have announced that their annual ‘Christmas Post’ fundraiser will, this year, be for Anastasia Days – a new charity providing fun days out for children who have suffered trauma.

Anastasia Days has been set up by the Costello family in remembrance of their daughter, Anastasia Costello, a much-loved Year 7 pupil at Bolton School, who sadly passed away last year.

‘Anastasia is very much in our memories. She was a happy, popular member of our School and her peers knew her to be kind, spirited and lots of fun. She had been a talented sportswoman who enjoyed lacrosse, hockey and netball. She had many friends and I think this will prove a popular charity for our pupils to raise funds for,' said Mrs Lynne Kyle, Head of the Girls’ Division.

Year 10 girls Sophia Wormald, Claudia Williams, Amelia Pope and Lucy Hunter, said: ‘we chose this charity to remember Anastasia and celebrate the happy times she had in school’ and ‘we are enjoying planning and preparing for our Christmas Post event and aim to raise over £1000 for Anastasia Days if we can.’

We very much want to support the charity and the wonderful work they are doing in their daughter’s name. Year 10 are determined to make a success of their Christmas charity event and are putting in a lot of hours of planning!

said Head of Year, Miss Rachel Langley.

Four Year 10 girls launched the campaign in a whole school assembly. The School’s Christmas Post is a tradition which begins with each Year 10 Form delivering a short Christmas themed play and is followed by younger pupils then being allowed to visit the six Year 10 stalls dotted around school at break times to spend their money on sweet treats, drinks and trinkets. Additionally, at the stalls, pupils can pay to send their friends holiday cards by posting these into a post box, or they can order telegrams or sing-a-grams which Year 10 pupils personally deliver.
