A number of Bolton School Girls’ Division water polo players have been honoured recently with selection for North West and Great Britain squads.
Zara in Year 12 has been selected for the Great Britain Under 18 Water Polo Squad.
She was nominated for the programme on the basis of her performances at the Regional Talent Centre, and successfully progressed through two rounds of national trials to earn her place in the squad. This is a significant accomplishment, reflecting her commitment, resilience and consistent high-level performances for school, club and regional teams.
Eight Girls’ Division pupils were also selected to represent the North West at the Under 14 Inter-Regional Championships in Walsall at the end of November: Year 9 pupils Taliah, Naoise and Siyona and Year 8 pupils Charlotte, Izzy, Aoife, Sienna and Darcey.
All eight players gave outstanding performances and the North West team had a phenomenal weekend. They won every match convincingly, finishing with a superb 12-4 victory over London in the final to become national champions.
Year 8 pupil Izzy was also awarded the prize for top goal scorer across the entire competition, an exceptional individual honour at this national event.
Nineteen girls have also been selected for the Talent Centre: well done to Amelia, Aoife, Charlotte, Darcey, Frankie, Isabelle, Izzy, Jessica and Sienna (Year 8), Beau, Siyona and Taliah (Year 9), Grace and Olivia (Year 10), and Clara, Harriet, Holly, Liv and Sianna (Year 11). In addition, Amelia in Year 13 has been appointed a Regional Talent Centre coach.
