During the Easter holidays, 38 Year 8 and Year 9 footballers from Bolton School’s Boys’ Division enjoyed an exciting five-day tour of Spain, combining high-quality football experiences with a range of activities away from the pitch.
The trip began with a visit to Camp Nou, the home of FC Barcelona, giving pupils the opportunity to experience one of world football’s most iconic venues.
Later in the week, the group trained at the professional training ground of RCD Espanyol, taking part in a coaching session led by academy staff. They also watched a professional fixture involving CE Europa, who compete in the Spanish Primera Federación.
Further training sessions and competitive fixtures took place at the renowned Mediterranean Sports Village, where the pupils tested themselves against local teams and academies including Fundació Marcet, FFB Reus, Cambrils UCF and Nàstic Tarragona.
It was not all football, however. Alongside their training and matches, pupils enjoyed spa and pool recovery sessions, mini golf, padel and a visit to PortAventura World theme park.
The School is extremely grateful to Harrison's Estate Agents for their generous sponsorship of the tour. Their support provided travel wear for the group and helped make the experience possible.
The tour provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop their football skills, experience a different footballing culture and create lasting memories with their teammates.
