Bolton School’s Junior Girls’ School, Hesketh House, will from September expand its Year 5 provision to create a third class from September 2026 onwards. This change is due to a sustained increase in the number of parents wishing to join Hesketh House for the final two years of junior school.

Creating this additional Year 5 form group will mean that each pupil will continue to receive the individual attention, encouragement and support they need to thrive; alongside enabling the Junior Girls’ School to group pupils within some aspects of the timetable to ensure that they all achieve their very best and are well prepared for Senior School life.

Mrs Sue Faulkner, Bolton School’s Head of Primary Division, said:

“We are so pleased to be in the strong position of being able to grow our Junior Girls’ School at this moment in time, and the additional pupils who join us will no doubt contribute hugely to Hesketh House’s wonderful atmosphere and community. Having undertaken the same expansion of Hesketh House’s Year 6 classes two years ago, and similar expansion at Park Road, we know that that growth benefits all pupils at the school, not just those within the year group affected. Before Easter, I was delighted to recruit an excellent class teacher for this new Year 5 class, who will bring a raft of experience when they join the Hesketh House teaching team in September, and who will support the extra-curricular and activities programme enjoyed by every girl already at the School.”

Hesketh House underwent a small amount of building work to accommodate the additional class, most of which was undertaken during the Easter holidays. The three new Year 5 forms will each be of mixed ability.

Bolton School is proud to see this exciting growth of its Junior Girls’ School at what continues to be a challenging time for the independent school sector.
