Hesketh House pupils Nellie and Zakkiyah have both been selected to represent England in netball at the Home Nations cup after a brilliant performance at the Primary All-Star National Finals.

Held at the University of Wolverhampton, the finals brought together talented young players from across the country, competing for the opportunity to earn a place on the England squad. Year 5 pupils Nellie and Zakkiyah, were part of the Manchester Champions Cup team who were awarded the title of national champions after defeating the Midlands Cup team in the final.

As a result of their success, both pupils will be playing for the England squad at the Home Nations Cup in July, where they will compete against teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

This is a tremendous achievement of which the School is incredibly proud. Although the winning team do not play together regularly, they quickly developed a strong understanding on court, showing excellent collaboration, perseverance and resilience as they fought their way to gold.

Head of Hesketh House, Mrs Holt commented,

“We are incredibly proud of both Nellie and Zakiyyah for their fantastic achievement. Their dedication and contribution to sport at Hesketh House is outstanding. We wish them every success as they represent England this Summer.”
