Each year in January, a group of talented gymnasts at Bolton School Boys’ Division compete to win the Gymnastics Cup, which is over 100 years old and one of the oldest pieces of silverware awarded by the School.

During the Autumn Term, the whole of Year 7 takes part in the opening rounds of the competition before being whittled down to a group of seven finalists. These boys went on to show off their skills in front of the judges and the rest of the year group in the Gymnastics Final, which this year was held on the first day back following the Christmas holidays.

Each of the boys completed a series of floor movements and balances, for which the judges awarded points. After a brief deliberation, medals and certificates were awarded for first, second and third place, and the cup was presented by the Head of Boys’ Division, Mr Nic Ford.

Well done to medallists Kian (Gold), William (Silver) and David (Bronze) and to all the finalists who took part.
