The Girls’ Division Great Hall was filled with marvellous music on Primary Division Orchestra Day. This special occasion was the second time that children from Bolton School’s Infant and Junior Schools have come together to form an orchestra: following last year’s success, the event was held again for a new group of young musicians and their parents to enjoy.
The children gathered for just one day of intensive practice all together before the performance.
Music staff and older students from the Boys’ and Girls’ Divisions supported the Juniors and Infants throughout the day as they experienced playing in a full orchestra, in some cases for the very first time.
Parents were invited to gather in the Girls’ Division Great Hall towards the end of the Primary Division Orchestra Day, where they were treated to two pieces: ‘Spring’ from the Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi and ‘Prince of Denmark’s March’ by Jeremiah Clarke. The Year 2 choir also sang ‘Wimoweh’ from the Lion King as part of the programme.
The children did an excellent job with these complex pieces of music and had fun developing their musical skills throughout the day.
