For the second year, Bolton School has held an Iftar for the School community.
Pupils, parents and staff from the Boys’ and Girls’ Divisions gathered together on Friday 13 March to break their fasts together. The Boys’ Division Dining Hall had been beautifully decorated for the occasion with balloons, banners reading ‘Ramadan Mubarak’ and flowers adorning the tables.
Following a welcome, where the importance of Ramadan and the significance of Iftar were shared, Boys’ Division students recited from the Quran and Girls’ Division students shared stories of the Prophets.
Guests were then led by Monitors and Prefects to the Boys’ and Girls’ Division Great Halls for Maghrib prayer. The fast was broken with dates and water, led by Sixth Form students.
Afterwards, Monitors and Prefects escorted everyone to the Boys’ Division Dining Hall, where a delicious three-course Iftar was served. The evening ended with a closing speech from Head of Foundation Mr Philip Britton.
The Iftar was held following the great success of last year’s inaugural event, cementing its place in the School's calendar of cultural celebrations throughout the year.
