Despite several set backs on the day of the game, with players being ruled out through illness and injury, the remaining Under 15 rugby players from Bolton School went on to win this year’s Rugby Lancashire Plate Final against Stonyhurst College.
The victory was all the sweeter after the team came back from a 15-0 half time deficit. A more resilient Bolton School turned up for the second half and a superb start put them on the front foot and they remained there for the rest of the game.
Tries came at regular intervals, as the 17 available players rotated on and off the field, keeping the momentum going until the final whistle. The final score ended Bolton School 33, Stonyhurst College 20. It would be wrong to single out any individual players as the whole squad contributed to a fantastic win against a very good rugby school.
Captain Nathan Pierson lifted the trophy in front of his team mates as the celebrations began.
